Day 1 & 2 in Nairobi, Kenya

Landed in Nairobi at 7:30am, July 9th, 2022. Cold and rainy. After multiple passport, visa, and COVID vaccination and clearance papers we met our driver from the Boma Hotel where we stayed for a few days. Took a three hour nap and George from Security gave us a short tour.

Lots of security. Walking outside of the gates is not wise. Best to have an uber driver or taxi take you to a specific place and tell them when to pick you up.

Early dinner outside and first taste of Tusker beer. It got progressively cold.

Slept from 9:30pm - 10:50am.

Met a couple of friends from our group towards the end of our lunch. Toured the place again.

The Boma Inn, in the compound, is a Hospitality College.

Because of it’s fertile soil and altitude Kenya is supposed to have some of the best Coffee in the world.

The breakfast room.
The pandemic has greatly affected the tourism here. One of the oldest hotels in Nairobi, a Hilton, is closing down. This is the biggest restaurant on the compound and now it’s only open for one meal a day.
We’ve entered the winter season where tourism is higher
So far, it’s been overcast quite a bit. The locals dress in sweaters and coats.
I’m a great fan of the chapati bread here. Kind of a Kenyan tortillia.

This is kind of a Rumba lawnmower

So much beauty. And bird calls.

Lots of awesome local art hung and for sale throughout the compound.
