Elephants of Aberdare National Park at the Arc
We needed escorts to take us to dinner and fend off any wildlife.
A buzzer sounded at night when animals were near the Arc, if you chose to be alerted. We only got one buzz, around 10 or 11pm right when I was deciding whether or not to sleep in my clothes. It blared loudly like a fire alarm in our room. Apparently there was a wide range of volume, depending on your room.
There are three deck levels we could watch the animals from, quietly. There were attracted to the salt licks put out.
Monique photographed this elephant, I think from the bottom viewing area. Her flash went off, accidentally. No flash is permitted. Apparently it threatened to charge but was stopped by the 5 foot barrier of stones in front of the viewing area.
